Windows Vista Mail

[Ellfe]

Please help somebody, I'm new at this.....when sending an email through
Windows vista it goes straight into my outbox with what looks like a folder
picture beside it not an envelope...

Windows Vista mail is the new Outlook Express. You will need to configure it
with your hotmail, yahoo, google or such like account details [Tools -
Accounts - Add...]. If however you are trying to use it to send emails from
your company email account it may be you are using the wrong client.

Don't bother with Windows Mail, it is virtually redundant and not
receiving much attention (if any) from M$ since they are putting their
resources into its replacement http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas

It has it's own newsgroup microsoft.public.windows.vista.live.mail.desktop
which, unusually, has active M$ personel who are willing to debate and
consider all suggestions with respect to future development.

I find the product quite good and the attitude of M$ in this particular
case to be just what one would wish of a software supplier.

BTW it is easy to install and adopts all the WM settings.

Advising someone to use a BETA version of a product is irresponsible,
dear. If you don't understand why, read the release notes for this BETA.

To the OP: use Thunderbird as it is not in BETA and works wonderfully.

You appear to be asking why it goes into the Outbox before sending. This is
common practice in Outlook Express now called Vista Mail. If you want to
write several emails before sending, going into the Outbox you can send all
in one go. If you want to change this Click the Tools menu and Open Options
and the Send tab, put a tick in Send immediately.

You have no experience with WM or WLM.
There is nothing irresponsible about encouraging people off WM
no matter how dodgy the alternative..

Talk to those with lots of experience ie. Gary, Frank and Steve
at the Windows Mail group.

that simply cannot reproduce the functionality.

At least be honest and say something like...
Replace WM with Thunderbird AND a full function newsreader
which is what someone wanting to fully replace WM would have to do.

note. I really like Thunderbird and wouldn't hesitate to use it
if it could do the job.

That doesn't mean the OP wants to dispense with
full newsreader functionality
or have to use two tools instead.

Unlike you, who recommends a BETA program, I offered the OP a solution
to his email problems. If he isn't into binaries or marking all the
groups read, my solution will also provide him with an excellent news
reader as well, dear.

I meant that you had a lot of experience with respect to
WM problems but see how it could be misunderstood.
