Windows 8 Freezing

Hello, I recently finished building my first computer. I mistakenly installed windows 8 and it has been a disaster. After finally getting it installed any time I tried to install a driver, or even just Google chrome, my computer will freeze. I have no
control of the mouse or keyboard and I am forced to manually shut down the computer. Is there a fix for this windows 8 freezing issue?
