Windows 8 upgrade to 64 bit.

I have purchased the Windows 8 upgrade from a retailer on the day it was released to the public and installed the 32 bit version onto my laptop which was running Windows Vista 32 bit at the time. My question is can I upgrade my Windows 8 to the 64 bit
version without uninstalling the 32 bit software ? My laptop has an x64 based dual core processor running at 2.16 Ghz and 2 GB of RAM.
