why can I browse from 1 server (domainX) to (domainY) and view fi

A newby silly Q here.
I have a server 2003 std which is domain controller for domainX Ip .1
I have just put a new server 2003 X64 R2 server on the same IP range and
subnet as a DC for domainY, IP .199
Can't quite understand how I can browse and open files on the std server
from the R2 server, when I've not added any permisssion or trusts, for this ??
(please be gentle with the rebuke / reply...) Thanks

I'd bet that you have the same account name and password, that you are using
when browsing, on both systems. Windows Explorer is using the cached
credentials on one system to authenticate to the other. Try it again with a
different password assigned to the account in each system. You'll then get
a prompt for userid and password when you browse.
