Windows 8 Metro start screen as only desktop

Hi All

I guess iam the small percentage that actually likes the Metro start page, so i have a question,

Is it possible so that progams i start on the metro that is not an App to launch infront of the metro ?

I feel its a shame that i get kicked out to the old deskptop when i do

Any suggestions ?
