desktop command for shortcut to emulate "Windows key"

I was wondering if there was any way to create a desktop shortcut to emulate the Windows Key on a keyboard? I am running Windows 8 and there are times I am in the Desktop mode and want to go to the Start screen, without the use of the keyboard and
the pop up does not appear. I wanted something Solid that I could Pin to the task bar, making it easier to switch screens.

I think this would make my life on Windows8 easier. Let me know if you have any answers.
