Storage Spaces doesn't do automatic balancing

I'm hearing different stories about how Storage Spaces works, and I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not I should use it.
Some people are saying that [URL="
it simply doesn't do any automatic rebalancing -- which renders it quite useless.
Anyone know how/when balancing works?
