Unable to extend Laptop display to LCD monitor

Hi,
I have HP Pavilion with Vista Home Premium on it. Up until couple of days
back I was able to plug in a external LCD monitor and extend my display to
the LCD monitor.

Suddenly, this stopped working and it's driving me crazy:-(

The noticed the following 2 log entries for Desktop Window Manager -

1. The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because the desktop
composition setting is disabled.

2. The Desktop Window Manager used an opaque colorization because an
analysis of the hardware and configuration indicated that a transparent
colorization would perform poorly.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Ankur.

I don't think you mean "extend" display but to have a dual display setup.
Usually it is not the default option - HP usually has that function assigned
to the F4 key.

This was working till couple of days back and then suddenly stopped working.
I have tried all F4 options but to no avail.
