COnflicting messages between Windows Security Centre and Microsoft Security Essentials

In the Machine
I have a Windows XP Machine and have installed Microsoft Security Essentials .

Windows security centre warns that antivirus program is turned off
but Microsoft Security Essentials says real time protection is turned on
