EDIT: I went to Internet Options and Reset I.E. The trojan *seemed* to have disappeared, but I am running Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal tool again AND LOOKING FOR THE ASIAN GLYPHS AND IDEOGRAPHS AS THE *FULL SCAN* CONTINUES. Although the GetSavin'
ads have disappeared from sites where they had taken control, and while the Reset SEEMS to get rid of the trojan, the Malicious Software Removal tool AGAIN includes ASIAN GLYPHS AND IDEOGRAPHS. This is a VERY DANGEROUS virus I DO wish someone from Microsoft
would help.
I downloaded from a legitimate site (at least one from which I have downloaded programs with integrity many times) a program that would enable USB connection to my Windows 7 64-bit laptop of a LG Tracfone whose only form of laptop connection was bluetooth. I
have experienced repeated crashes of Internet Explorer, have the 90's-style flashing neon adware that I've never had before on this unit, and am now afraid of identity theft and spent last evening altering financial accounts. The programs in Programs and Features
were identified as Getsavin, LGTools, InfoAtom, etc.
I do not have a level of ability to edit my registry. I ran CCleaner, Secunia I cleaned up the C: drive with Windows and am running Avast anti-virus as well as Windows Defender. Clearly my laptop has a trojan. Even Microsoft's brand new Malicious Software
Tool, to my horror, passed thousands of files as "clean" even though these files included Chinese/Asian glyphs and ideographs.
I am now afraid to use my laptop. Aside from wiping out and re-installing Windows, what can I do? In Programs and Features, Dropbox was listed as having been altered recently (when I have not gone near it in nearly nine months--I simply don't use it). So
I uninstalled Dropbox, too. I don't know what else to do. Thank you for any help.
