ecard trojan

Tony Williams

I've foolishly infected my machine with the ecard trojan. I opened an email
telling me I had an ecard, thinking it was from one of my sons who often
sends me ecards on birthdays etc.AVG has picked up a trojan in the C:\system
volume information folder but I can't open that folder to get at it. I get a
message that says the folder is not accessible access is denied. I have
googled ecard trojan and got lots of links all discussing the trojan but
nothing telling me how to get rid of it. Can anyone help??
Thanks
Tony

Proceed with this

Right click My Computer> Properties>
On the system properties console> System Restore tab
check the turn off system restore ( to turn off ) and click ok

restart your computer again and go back to the system restore tab
and uncheck it and click ok

thanks

You would have had to gone to the web site offering the so-called eCard and then downloaded
and executed it. The Trojan YOU have is mostly like NOT the Nuwar Trojan that is
associated with the eCard spammed emails.

Anything found in c:\system voluume information\_restore is infact the Ssystem Restore
cache.

You have two options. The first is to clear the System Restore cache. The second is ignore
it. As long as you don't restore the PC to a previous Restore point the Trojan will
eventually cache-out.
