Hello, I have tried to install windows vista service pack 2 from the Microsoft Download Center but it always fails with error code 0x80070490. I have run the Microsoft Fix it troubleshooter. When the troubleshooter is complete, the issues found is: “Windows update
components must be repaired” and the Fix status is: “Fixed”. I tried installing windows vista SP2 again but it failed with the same error code (0x80070490). I then downloaded and run the System Update Readiness tool (Checksur.exe) which was successful but
when I tried to install SP2 again it failed with the same error code (0x80070490). I am unable to “Perform a repair installation of Windows” since I have misplaced my windows vista R2 DVD and other CD’s etc. I would appreciate any help to get SP2 installed
on my PC (Vista home premium 32 bit SP1). Thanks.
