Uninstalling Windows Defender on a pc running Vista SP-2

I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials, and understand that I don't need Defender any longer. It won't turn on anyhow, so may as well be removed altogether. However, it doesn't show up in the Programs and Features control panel list. How do I uninstall
