Installing Publisher 2013 on a PC that has Office Home and Business 2013 already installed

Setting up some new Windows 7 PCs, we have installed retail version of Office Home & Business 2013 on the machines. I also have to install Publisher 2013 Retail version on 2 machines but when I try the install fails and it screws up the existing Office
installation as well. I had to use the patch to uninstall and start again with the Office install. Any ideas of how to install Publisher in this scenario?
