Microphone not picking up after April update

After the update my microphone wont pick up sound no matter what program I'm using. The microphone itself is not broken because strangely Windows can pick it up if I choose to listen to the device and play back audio through the speakers. But then only windows can hear it, no other application such as Skype, Discord or Steam can pick up on it. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers several times.
