I am a silver surfer seeking help to restore/recover my laptop - an ASUS Notebook N56V.
When I attempted to restore factory settings, I got the following screens. I do not have the original media disc that came with the laptop (if, indeed, one did). It was pre-loaded with Windows 7 (home Premium OA). If it is needed, the product key is clearly visible on the bottom of the laptop. It has been suggested to me that I need to use a USB/flash drive to restore the laptop and that I should be able to download onto it whatever I need for the repair. I will be grateful for any advice/guidance and which site(s) has the requisite program.
Following are the screen messages:
(i) RECOVERY
Your PC/device needs to be repaired.
The operating system couldn't be loaded because a critical error system driver is missing or contains errors.
File: \\Windows\System32\drivers\pci.sys
Error code: Oxc0000221
You'll need to use recovery tools. If you don't have any media installation (like a disc or USB device) contact your PC administrator or PC /Device manufacturer.
Press Enter to try again. Press F8 for start up settings
(ii)START UP SETTINGS
Press a number to choose from the settings below:
Use number keys of function keys F1 - F9
