I have a dell laptop that came with Windows 10. I have two users (one an admin on not) that are getting a blank screen when the log in (can see the mouse but nothing else). Two other users don't have the problem. I can start task manager and have tried a few fixes based on internet searched. None have worked. I am concerned because I have see a LOT of different recommendations to fix. So I have low confidence that I should pursue some of the more complicated ones as I may make things worse than when I started.
So, I have tried:
1) [windows key][cntr][shift] -B Did not work.
2) regedit>HKEY_LOCAL...>Software>Microsoft>Windows NT>Current...>Winlogon>Shell Set Value Data to "explorer.exe"
Problem with this is I don't see "Shell" under "Winlogon" I suspect this is part of the problem. When I look at the registry on an account that is working properly I see "Shell" under "Winlogon" What I don't know is how to resolve, or if this is a cause or symptom.
I decided to stop there.
Can I get help?
Does Microsoft offer any automated support that attempts to diagnose a problem?
Thanks!
