My old laptop died a few months ago, and all my files were transferred seamlessly to my new computer, which is running Windows 10. A handful of files for a website I designed last year were transferred, but they are now padlocked. I am the owner and only user of both my old laptop and current one, and I have full permissions for these files. I never intentionally encrypted them. I feel like I have tried everything to open/copy/move/access them in any way, to no avail. The User Access window shows the only user of the file as myself, but on my old computer/account. I have no certificate/backup/etc., and I am absolutely desperate to get to these (as is my client). Is there ANY WAY I can get to these files that are blocked by the EFS? Please help!
