followed all suggested instructions through to entering c:/windows/inf

The response every time is... "Could not add the requested feature. The error is: This program is blocked by Group Policy".

I am the sole user, there is no Network Administrator other than myself. Where Group Policy has come from I do not know nor do I want it!

I have one PC with Realtek PCIe GBE. The network comprises an unmanaged network switch, a D-Link DNS-323 NAS, a WD disk and a network printer. Separately, I have a WiFi connection to the WWW. I have updated to the latest Windows release (04/18), the Realtek driver has been updated. I have been through the Winsock replacements in the registry, Winsock resetting etc, IPConfig resetting etc, made suggested changes to RegEdit as well as Group Policy settings. Still no go.

This same configuration was working fine a year ago. I disconnected everything and packed the lot into storage. Now I'm back, put the system together as it was but cannot access my storage devices. Where to go from here?

I've got to a dead end on this, can anyone help?

many thanks in anticipation
