frequent black out of secondary monitor

After a month of using MS Surface Book 2, and ASUS secondary monitor, the secondary screen seems to black out infrequently when I'm in the middle of using a word document.


I'm using a Microsoft Surface USB-C to HDMI adapter. Didn't have any problems a month ago. Checked to see if the adapter is plugged in properly and it is.
