Security update breaks application

Microsoft's 2018-04 broke an application of ours so I rolled it back and and contacted the vendor but they have yet to come up with a solution. Between working and not working (prod n test) the folder permissions for the application are the same as is the one registry entry they had me check. Procmon does not return any access denied results.

This month a new one came out so I figured I would give it a try 2018-05 Security Quality Rollup for windows server 2012R2 (kb4103725) Unfortunately same results. Thoughts?
