updates fail to install

Starting with KB4056892 and all subsequent updates fail to install upon restart. Any clues? I have tried the update troubleshooter to no avail. The security updates for Adobe Flash Player for w/10 do not update either. Windows defender updates with no problems. I am running W10/version 1709.
