Hi folks, helping a bud out but this is a little outside my wheelhouse.
About 20 users with Windows 7 Pro workstations
Had an old Windows 2000 Domain Controller that is dead and is out of the picture completely, no backup.
New Windows Server 2016 with new domain created (same name/NETBIOS name/etc)
Manually created the user accounts on the new server
When users login, they get: “The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship”
Same error if we manually create an AD computer account.
The goal here is to not have to recreate user profiles on their workstations, which is what happens if we leave/re-join the domain. Everyone is very sensitive about their setups.
Is there some way to get the workstations and the new DC to "trust each other" without leaving and re-joining the domain?
Thanks.
