AMD-V/ Virtualization

To use VMWare i must enable AMD-V(because my laptop is with an AMD processor) and in the BIOS it says 'HP recommends this option to be disabled unless a special software needs it'. So my question is:

Does it have some risks and what are they when AMD-V/Intel-V is enabled. I really need the virtual machines
