Hi,
I am a motion designer and I use a variety of different scripts, applications and helpers day in day out and have encountered a difference in the windows and file selection/ location selection window types between applications. It was stated to me that this is the coders choice on creation of a script or application, however I would love the broader explorer view to come up anytime regardless of what app or script I am using as I find the simpler hierarchical very cumbersome and limits my access to the quick access functions of the normal view as well as the useful breadcrumb.
The hierarchical view wastes so much of my time, I would love a work around to force windows to always use the extended window. Images below to better explain what I'm after:
