Today I noticed that there were 3 new apps installed on my Windows 10 machine: a Twitter app, "Farmville 2", and a third one that I don't remember. Problem is, I never installed those apps and would never install them; I don't even have a Twitter account and I never play computer games. Appalled, I uninstalled all three immediately. Thinking I might have lost my mind, I went online to see if people were talking about this. What I found was a few geeks calmly explaining how to modify the registry, etc. to turn this off. I also found a Microsoft "Community" blog entitled "Windows 10 installing apps without permission" where people were starting to talk about this, but Microsoft apparently doesn't want people discussing it because the thread was closed to new comments after just four entries (many "Community" threads have dozens of pages and hundreds of entries). THINK ABOUT THIS. Microsoft, the maker of the operating system that has complete control of all personal storage and personal and business communications you conduct using your PC, is now installing applications AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. These apps could contain agents that run constantly in the background without your knowledge, capturing your keystrokes, monitoring all your internet communications, and locating and uploading all your personal and financial information to third parties. Even if the apps themselves are not malicious, they could have been hacked. I cannot fathom the liability to which Microsoft has opened itself; imagine the story of millions of people being totally financially destroyed because a hacked version of Farmville 2 that they didn't even know was running uploaded all their financial info to global criminal networks in Singapore. TIME TO START RETHINKING MY RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS COMPANY.
