D: Drive almost full

A window keeps popping up that says that my D: drive is almost full. I've taken a look at the drive and it says that 'there are no folders to show you' and yet is has used 401MB of space. I'd like to know why this message started popping up and do what I need to do to fix the problem and stop the annoying window from popping up every few minutes.
