desktop running windows 10 automatically switch to tablet mode

This morning my desktop looked really strange and performed strangely. After a time I determined that for some reason Windows decided my desktop was a tablet (it is way to heavy to carry around). I went to settings and changed the setting to always bring this computer up as a desktop computer, restarted and all was like it should be. However, I would like to understand what happened so that it does not happen again. Any suggestions?
