window 10 clean install to new hard drive

My hard drive crashed and was running windows 7 HE. I purchased a new 1TB hd and want to install windows 10 on the new hd. I purchased a download windows 10 onto a usb, installed the hd, plugged in the usb drive and power on the PC. I install the key with no problem. When it goes into setup it will tell me that the drive is not recognized in the bios. I've tried the F2, F8, and F10 to get to the bios with no success. I'm stuck.
