Unable to change settings in Windows 10 after latest update

I am unable to change any settings after the Windows 10 update in April 2018. Specifically, I want to change back to my PIN to sign in with but it only allows me to use original password. Why did it revert back to original settings & not let me change to my former preferences? Anything I click on in the settings does not do anything & locks up the system. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
