Updating a Windows 8.1 tablet to Windows 10

Can anybody tell me if I can upgrade my tablet running 8.1 to Windows 10 via a USB port? I bought a new copy of Win 10 online not realizing it was loaded on a USB stick. I think it should be okay but the paranoia in me says to check first. I can't upgrade via a CD Drive because there isn't one to use.
