Can Storage Spaces Direct be combined with Storage Replica

I just need to know whether Storage Spaces Direct can be combined with Storage Replica or not. The two Windows Server 2016 would be located at two data centers separated by say a high latency network connection. In that case is Storage Replica a feasible solution to go with ?
Also, will S2D be a viable option by say setting up Guest clustering of 2 Server 2016 VMs on two physical hosts at the two data centers?
