Problems after 'We've got some updates'

I only get black screen and Recycle bin icon after login on my desktop. I have had updating messages but after letting these run I get the message 'Location is not available' C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop. closing this takes me to the black screen. After that the only option is to turn off the PC. No other options available. Help pls
