Transfer iTunes from external hard drive.

I recently transferred my iTunes library to an external hard drive from a desk top with Windows Vista to my laptop with Windows 10. When I plug the hard drive into my laptop the library looks like it's corrupt or encrypted and won't transfer. However, if I plug it into my desktop, it comes up fine. I'm not sure how, or if I can fix this.
