Windows 10 Activation Error after Transfering Back Up From One PC to Another

I recently used the Windows 10 feature of creating a system Image. I took the image from a desktop and installed it on a laptop that also had a genuine windows 10 installed before. However I now get windows 10 activation error. Could it be because I picked EFI system partition or Windows RE Tools (System) partition from the desktop & installed on the laptop? Should I have left one of those partitions?
