Hi,
I had just downloaded the latest installation CD for Win10 (version 1803, Build 17134.81) and tried a new installation from scratch.
My old printer HP Laserjet 1300 was recognized but only as "Other device" and not as printer. I have had this problem in previous installations where the situation had been solved by Microsoft Update. Unfortunately, not so with my current installation which failed badly with error message "Microsoft driver update for hp LaserJet 1300 PCL 5 - Error 0x80240061". The update log states error message 80240034. Did not find any information about these error codes.
No way to get the printer working in this environment. Only way out so far was to return to a backup copy of my old Win7/Win10 system -- but I do really want to start with a 'clean' system after several years of continuous operation and updates.
B.t.w.: I have noted that the installer package from HP refers to a printer "HP LaserJet 1300 Series" but the printer shows up as "HP LaserJet 1300". Is this eventually the cause for the problem. (I cannot test this since I do not have a tool to create a new MSI package)
