Using bcdedit /set groupsize on Windows Server 2016 makes the system unbootable

I'm using VMware Workstation as my virtual platform and installed a Windows Server 2016 guest VM. This is the VM setting in VMware Workstation.

I freshly installed Windows Server 2016 in this VM and below is some info about the guest OS.

Then I modified the groupsize variable as described in BCDEdit /set

After that I restarted my computer.

But the system can't reboot and I got the following error.

I tested this on a Windows Server 2012 VM and everything works just fine. So I suspect it's Windows version issue as the documentation at BCDEdit /set doesn't not mention Windows Server 2016 is supported. So my question is , Is this caused by unsupported version of Windows? If so, we can't use bcdedit on Windows 2016, how can we modify the groupsize variable?

Thanks.
