Recent Windows Update and cannot login

I selected the second option which was to update and restart my husband's PC. He has never had to login from the startup screen as I do on my PC; however, now (after the update) it is asking to "sign in". When I click on the "sign in", it says, "The User Profile Service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded." How do I get to the area where I can setup a sign in for his PC. Very frustrating.
