disappearing files

It looks like after a recent windows 10 update several of my files went missing. I found some in the recycle bin - but they were not complete. I don't work on my desktop very often anymore so I am not sure exactly what day this occurred, but it was within the last 2 weeks. Is there anything I can do to get them back?
