Network list service issue

Having unusual issue on a netbook with a service apparently called "network list" consuming 25% of cpu (maxing out 1 of 4 cores) after connecting cellular. The network icon in the toolbar also does not update to show current network status after connecting, even though it is connected. Anyone know what may cause this?
