I have a Windows Server 2016 Std installation that is relatively new (probably less than 3 months old) and just within the last couple days that I have updates that won't install the major one being:
KB4053579 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 for x64 based systems
and the error message I'm getting is 0x80246002; I turned up a couple suggested fixes such as stop the windows update service and rename the %systemroot%\softwaredistribution\download to download.old and restart the update service and try again. I have done this and is didn't work? How can I fix this?
Also I'm having problems with DCom errors associated with RuntimeBroker, there are a ton of threads about this and ways to fix it. I've used regedit to change the permissions on every registry key, switched the owner from TrustedInstaller to Administrators but when I reboot and try and do the last step of the suggested fix which is to use the component services manager to add Administrators under Group or user names and Add and Remove are both greyed out as if there's still a registry key blocking me from changing this but I've triple checked and all registry keys have the permissions now set properly. One thread mentioned a powershell script to fix this but I tried it and I can't get it to work. How can I fix this?
