Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all well.
We have an issue in work. We have a User ID whose password has not been changed for some time, however, it was changed yesterday. The problem is the user is logged into multiple machines (100) on a production line.
What we would like to do is switch back to the original password that has been set for over 2 years. All production line workers know this password. The problem is when we try to change the password we have an error which states the password cannot be changed due to complexity. We know the password does not meet the current Microsoft complexity status.
There is a GPO called Default Group Policy which has the password policies set. Password complexity is enabled. The Default Group Policy is set a the top level and is applied to all OU's in AD. I created a new OU and disabled the inheritance. I moved the user into the OU and forced a GP update. I then tried to change the password through AD but I still got the complexity error window. I created a new GPO linked to the new OU. Created a new policy which disabled the password complexity, and Password remembrance etc. Logged in with the user forced another GP update. Checked GPresult and it picks up the GPO within the new OU. I try to change the password in AD but I still get the complexity issue.
Does anyone know why this could be happening or is there a way of changing the password to a non complex one through AD?
We are running W2003 level Active Directory.
Please if anyone has any information of how I could be able to change the password I would be very greatful.
