Ever since April (Windows 10 Update...?), the response from my Ham Radio Apps (HRAs) has been slowing down.
Previously, I got a fast response doing data Look-ups, typically in 2-3 seconds. But now, those same Look-ups take 10-15 seconds.
I saw in Task Manager's Start-up tab, there were 11 software items shown.
I booted in Safe Mode with Networking, and disabled each app., 1-at-1-time, re-booting each time. And I'd do Look-ups in the HRAs, recording the performance. 5 had NO impact; 6 had major impact.
Then I booted "normally" and I disabled ALL 11 Start-up software items. Ad still..the HRAs were very slow, 10-15 seconds for any Look-up.
So None of the 11 were actually causing my performance degradation.
Next, I plan to use AutoRun, a 3rd Party Utility that shows me ALL the Hidden start-up software items that might be the "culprit".
Has someone out there used AutoRun for this purpose ?
Got any advice or tricks about using AutoRun to most easily Identify the problem-causing software ?
