Hello!
This is not the first time this has happened, but it's been a while since it has, and thus I was unprepared.
This morning, I applied the most recent Windows Update. Upon finishing the update, I went back into my files (custom folder setup on my desktop) and discovered several files that were missing and/or lost all progress made to them in the past couple days. After searching for hours, looking through the Windows.old file and researching the issue, I resolved that my files are permanently gone. A couple of my programs disappeared as well. I think this may have happened to others as well.
As far as being on a temporary user, I don't think I am, because there is only one account on this laptop, and I do not log in with my microsoft account when logging into this computer. I try to keep everything untangled so as to not get confused.
Pretty sure my files are unrecoverable, but if anyone has any suggestions that I have not yet tried, feel free to comment.
