Hello,
I have a desktop Asus PC that I'm unable to use as of June 8th, 2018. My problems began with the Fall Curators update where my computer would freeze up during instal. I was able to fix this issue by unplugging everything from my computer and allow the update to run. On Thursday June 7th I was prompted to instal an update so I allowed it and left my computer alone for 2-3 hours. When I returned the update froze so I decided to shut down the computer since before all it would do is attempt to instal again and if it failed I would just shut it off and it would then roll back. This time though when I turned my computer on the screen turned black after the initial boot up. When I turned the computer off and on again to force a roll back it would only go to black after booting. After the 3 attempts option to get the advanced settings i attempted to get the system to roll back but it said it couldn't. So I tried to use troubleshoot for startup and the computer said it can't. So I decide to give up and just reset my computer to factory but it would quit part way through and say it failed.
I also attempted to boot up safe mode but only gotten the black screen. The monitor seems to be fine and is not the issue. The driver could be the problem but I can't do anything since I can't get into safe mode anyway.
To be clear on what I mean by black screen on the monitor; first the power light on it would be red (on) and I would see the Asus logo and the option to open BIOS. After the Asus logo with a loading circle and then the light would turn off on the monitor and the screen would go black and become dimmer (hard to explain but when you see a black image the light of the monitor is still radiating from the screen but when the monitor is off you get a blank screen. This is what I'm getting but the monitor is still "on") until it looks like it is off. The monitor appears to still be on since I need to press the power button twice (one to shut off and again to get the red light) but the monitor will only say it is connected and go black. If I try to unplug from the tower, the monitor shows it is not receiving a signal and goes to power saving. If I plug it back in, it says they is a connection but goes back to black.
