Installation of Windows 10 after change of hard disk

Hi!

I'm using Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop with following configuration - i5 (2nd Gen), 8 GB RAM, 500 GB hard disk, Radeon HD 7400M. The laptop originally came with Windows 7 home (with key) but i upgraded it to Windows 10 when free upgrade was being offered by Microsoft.

There is more than 40% space empty in the hard disk. Have tried defragmentation, disk cleanup, Registry cleaning, virus scan run. Yet the hard disk starts consuming 100% usage in task bar. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be at the end of its life since it is almost 7 years old.

Now, I want to change my internal hard disk. How should I proceed? Should I install windows 7 and will be able to get free upgrade or is there a way to get back to Windows 10 directly without installing Windows 7? Please note that the product key i received with the laptop was for windows 7.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul
