automatic removal of my photographs during update

How to disable (1) automatic movement (2) deletion of my photograph files (3) making new folders (4) Renaming files - during each major windows 10 backup?

After Windows 10 updates in Fall 2017, 2018 January, and again in 2018 April - I cannot locate many of my photograph files without extensive searching.

After the 2017 Fall update, I thought many files were deleted but I found 5.5 GB in a file - then found that I could not open it. And about 10 GB of photographs were missing.

After the 2018 January major update, many of my photographs were moved to deeper sub-directories - sometimes 8 or 10 deep.

(They would be in C:\My Pictures\My family\John and end up: "My Pictures\My family\family\2000\my family\2007 pictures\my family\john\new folder\pictures" ...........................................with many Empty New Folders.

Some family gatherings pictures were mixed in a single file and labeled incorrectly – Christmas 2017 would have pictures from Thanksgiving 2016 – and THE WRONG FILES would be labeled the same as the correct ones.

It was evident that facial recognition had been used because the original files now contain members of other families. They will have a folder called "Ann" and it will contain Ann's pictures with Susie's pictures mixed in.

Also some files were rearranged by year - not subject! I can not found all of these.

I am an artist and many of my art pictures are mixed in various files of family members.

One more distressing act was that many of my family pictures were RESIZED. I had kept them large for printing, but many were downsized!

How can I prevent this happening after I search and cut and paste and drag and drop 100's of files.

I have to open each and every file folder in my computer to see what has been changed.

Who to contact - how to disable the automatic part of Windows 10 updates?
