I've looked up every single method out there and they all come back to doing the same thing: Edit your registry or disable Cortana through Group Policy. I've done both and although she isn't in my search bar, she still eats up 19% of my CPU every single time I open up a new folder or browser window. I'm sick of it and I'm getting ready to just give up and swap to Linux. Cortana was/is the absolute worst "feature" to ever be added to Windows. There should be a way to disable her from running in background 24/7. I get that you guys want to spy on or "help" us find/search for things easier, but this just isn't the way... I'm begging that you please, PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Give us a way to just disable her from running in the background. It is a terrible and pointless app to 99% of your users. You may think I'm being childish or over exaggerating, but no one likes being forced to give up CPU to something they'll never use. Listen to your users and don't tell us: "If you don't like it, downgrade to Win7 or Win8.1." Yes, a user was actually told this by a Microsoft Support member!! Help us out here....I've been using Windows since '97 and I would hate to switch to a different OS over one "feature".
