Windows 10 1803 Update Issue

Hi All,

This week I noticed that my Windows 10 system was trying to upgrade to version 1803. It was noticeably because I was running low on space and Windows wanted me to clear up some storage to allow for the download to complete. I made enough space available and after some time checked back on the Windows update status and noticed that there was some sort of driver related error. I didn't dig into during the week and assumed the update would not proceed, and I was planning to investigate further this weekend. Friday evening I noticed that my system had rebooted and my computer was at the Select a Language Screen of the Windows automatic repair tool, at this point I assume that Windows disregarded it's error and proceeded with the upgrade to 1803?

I was able to actually select a language so I thought it was a problem with my wireless keyboard, which has had driver issues before, so I swapped that out with a USB keyboard. Still i'm not able to select a language. After doing some research I believe I have an incompatible USB controller with version 1803.

I created a bootable USB stick with the Windows 10 install media and tried all of the repair options without any success, I've also tried some of the common command line repairs, all without any success.

How can I confirm that this is a USB controller driver issue, and if it is the problem, how can I fix it?

If I can't fix the usb driver how can I roll back 1803?

I don't have the "Startup Settings" option under advanced options, is this because i'm booting off USB media?

TIA!

Vince
