Hello, hope you are well.
I have been patching our server estate with .NET patches. Where different versions of .NET exist on the various servers, I have either being upgrading to the minimum supported version and then installing updates. Or if a version of .NET exists and it is a supported version, then I have just been installing the updates. Because I have lots of servers to update, I started this work in April and decided to use the updates from February as a baseline.
As an example for Windows Server 2012 R2, which is what most of my server estate is made up from, I required the following KB updates:-
KB4054980 - .NET Framework 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7 and 4.7.1
KB4054990 - .NET Framework 4.5.2
KB4054999 - .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Now I am looking at Windows Server 2016 and I don't really understand the patching. But the servers I have checked so far are OS Build 1607 - 14393.2273 which seems to be related to May 17th 2018 KB4103720.
So with this in mind, am I correct in thinking that any security updates and patches to the various .NET Frameworks that might be installed on the Windows 2016 servers, will be at least or even more up to date than the February updates I have applied for Windows Server 2012 R2.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Dave
